Adding the Mac device to a MDM requires you to erase content & settings in order to get access to the enrollment screen. After you enroll the device, you can restore your backup.
Recommended Backup Methods:
- Cloud Storage (iCloud, Google Drive)
- External hard drive
Time Machine backups stored on the computer cannot be restored
Even if you partition your Mac's hard drive, erasing content & settings will also delete the time machine backups so you can't restore them.
